The Story of Pacifica Tea
There's a feeling of stillness that each of us has experienced. A feeling that is hard to put into words, but when we experience it, we know it. A calm, peaceful feeling within us that happens when the internal and external noise has quieted. We soften. We become still.
This feeling can happen by the simple act of stopping everything, and enjoying a cup of tea. We call it The Stillness of Tea™
Gourmet tea imparts calm and tranquility in its preparation, which is centered on the tea leaves as the treasure and the delicacy. A pot of tea can not be rushed or hastened. We are encouraged to slow down and wait…and if we allow it to happen, we become still and present in that moment.
The subtle and powerful act of preparing a pot of tea.
"Pacifica" means peaceful. We couldn't think of a better word to describe what we encourage our customers to experience, while sipping a cup of tea.
Mission Statement
Pacifica Tea is a small, socially conscious company that is committed to delivering the highest grade, whole leaf tea possible.
Our philosophy is first and foremost a commitment to deliver only the highest grade, whole leaf, loose tea. We achieve this by purchasing our teas from premium tea estates in South Africa, China, India and Sri Lanka. We consistently strive to purchase from small farms that are committed to fair trade practices and organic cultivation.
Second, because we care deeply about the environment and social responsibility, Pacifica Tea donates a percentage of sales to select charitable organizations that are working to protect the earth's dwindling resources. We are always dedicated to giving something back, either through donations from sales, or increasing public awareness of environmental and social issues such as those affecting children in South Africa.

Who We Are
Maggie Sergio, Pacifica Tea founder, spent 12 years in high-tech and found that the simple act of preparing and sipping tea, produced a calming effect that countered the stress of a fast-paced industry. Born and raised in New York, she now resides in northern California after founding Pacifica Tea in 2001. Having traveled extensively in Southern Africa, North America, the Caribbean, and Egypt, she is extremely passionate about, and deeply connected to South Africa. By introducing a line of healthy and delicious South African teas she is hoping to increase public awareness about some of the critical issues facing this beautiful and mystical country.
